Monte Cassino Restaurant of Melrose is an Italian restaurant situated in an attractive old station house just off the high street. Inside, it is the architypical Italian Ristorante (in a good way!).
Monte Cassino is usually busy and clearly has a loyal following in Melrose. It is child friendly and an excellent place to take the family.
As for the food, it is good on the whole, and we have been back on a number of occasions. The pizzas are superb - the best Ive had in the Scottish Borders, and they do a take away service on some nights. A seafood risotto was also very satisfying and reasonably priced. A cake that came from the glass display case was a little on the dry side.
The staff are gregarious and contribute to the all round jolly atmosphere. All in all, a fun and tasty experience and we will go again.
